FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK 2004-2005
With the great support of our sponsors-Northern
Coalfields Ltd., through their visionary leaders, and your moral support, we are
bound to continue to meet the expectations that everyone has from DPS Nigahi.
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the session 2004-2005.
Delhi Public Schools figure in the list of India’s top 50 brands according
to a survey conducted by AC Nielson ORG-Marg. The study has made DPS school the
first group of school in the country to be associated with the concept of branding.
The DPS family has strength of 120 school across the world. “As we expand
our family, our aim to provide sound infrastructure wherever we go. The DPS ethos
seeks to integrate scientific knowledge and human values to bring out the best in
a student,” says DPS Society Chairman Narendra Kumar.
Ongoing through the records of the previous years I feel that it was only yesterday
that I had come to take up my duties which were entrusted to me by DPS Society of
leading this institute.
We had set various goals for this school like building up the infrastructure of
the school in the form of nice labs, sports facilities, computers, to get from the
CBSE both for the secondary and senior secondary level education, to prepare our
students for the Board Classes and expose them to the best competitions both at
the local and national level. We did manage to achieve all the set goals with the
blessings coming from the God in the form of help coming from the right persons
at the right time.
100 % pass above 76% class aggregate and distinction ratio of 3.24 and 3.14 respectively
both batches of class X have set in high standard for others to emulate. Our school’s
cricket team took part in the World Cricket Cup for the school children. Academic
camp was organized by the EMC under the aegis of DPS Society for the teachers and
principals. First ever international child summit “Listen” was organized
by DPS Society in which all stake holders of education from the country and abroad
took part.
Successful excursion trips were organized for the students to places like Nagpur,
Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Puri and Konark. Inderjeet Singh and Vashisth
Muni have got second and first positions in Shot put and javelin throw at National
Level Championship held in Kerala. Three students of our school Aupama Prasad, Akanksha
Singh and Sourabh Dhar were given Governor’s medal for getting top positions
at state level in the MBD Talent examination. Our School also received the prize
for being the Best Participating School in the whole of Madhya Pradesh. This is
for the fourth time that we have got this position. Besides the normal school we
have also opened up our infrastructure in the evenings for the children from the
weaker section of society under the banner of DPS Shikha Kendra. All of these things
have been great experience and ones that we will only experience once. They were
fulfillments of goals we had set or dreams that we had. They came, and they went.
Now they are but memories.
And further to this we have new dream, new aspirations. We look forward to having
an Auditorium of our own, we went to provide the Education to the children entrusted
to us by getting up linked with the DPS Society State of Art Studio through the
satellite (which is the fist and so for the only online educational teaching and
learning facility in the world at school level), we want our students to excel in
their lives and so on. Life really goes on!
Beside these set goals we need to reflect on our attitude towards life in its real
perspective.
Life goes on and these is nothing we can do to stop the wheels of time….All
we can do is make sure that we live every moment of every hour, of every day, week
and year to its fullest. That is all we can do.
We need to reflect on certain important things like are we aware that our life goes
on? Do we realize that many of the things we are experiencing will never be experienced
again? Do we know that once a day is gone, it is gone forever?
It’s true. All the more reason we must be extremely proactive I am not suggesting
that we work all the time. I believe that we should live balanced lives and that
our down times are just as important in the grand scheme of things as those in which
we working away.
The key is to know what we want to do and to know what we want our children to do,
to be proactive in making sure we do it, and then following through so when that
day comes on which we take our last breath, or someone close to us does, we know
deep down in our hearts that we did everything we could to make the most of our
lives.
Have we taken responsibility and ownership for our life? Do we have clearly stated
goals? Are we working on our relationship to make them as healthy as humanly possible?
Are we keeping our life in balance? Will we leave a legacy for others to enjoy and
follow?
These are important questions to answer. More important than that is to do what
it takes to live the life of our dreams and leave a lasting legacy.
If we are doing that and living the life of our dreams, that is great! If we don’t
take the time and invest today. Remember, life goes on. The kids get older, and
so do we. Tomorrow there will! Only be one less day to make our significant mark
on the world.
You know the world needs your contribution, don’t you? Now more than ever!
We need to live our dreams Today! We need to take our lives under our control and
make it happen.
Spare the best and the most precious thing for your little ones. You’re TIME.
Give your child your time and guide him/her in the best possible way.
Make a habit of going through this Almanac on regular basis and try to remain in
touch with the school as much as possible. Ensure that incase of a planned leave
it is duly sanctioned and in case of an emergency the absence is brought to the
notice of the school in time.
