FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK 2005-2006
With the great support of our sponsors-Northern
Coalfields Ltd., through their visionary leaders, and your moral support, we are
bound to continue to meet the expectations that everyone has from DPS Nigahi.
Dear Parents,
I take this opportunity of thanking each one of you for your support and thank the
mighty Lord for having made it possible.
Welcome to the session 2005-06
This is going to be the eight session for the school. Though we may say that we
are still in our establishing phase our students have not only been taking part
in various outside competitions but also proving their mettle and thereby making
us proud achievers.
In the last session our students took part in 09 Inter School Sports Competition
(5 CBSE, 2 Open, IDPS and I MP). We lifted the Champion’s trophy in the Boy’s Athletic
Meet of CBSE Cluster X which was held at Indore. 80 Students of the school took
part in various Inter School Cultural Competitions. Our School girls, who took part
in the International Women’s Dance Competition held at Faridabad, got the third
position among 84 presentations. In the Mock United Nation Conference which was
organized in New Delhi by DPS R.K. Puram under the agies of DPS Society our team
representing Qatar got the best country profile award among 100 such presentations.
Our of 50 students who have qualified form the Sidhi district in the State level
competition conducted by MBD group, 24 are from our school. The list of achievers
is a pretty long one. These are only a few outstanding results which we are able
to mention here.
In the coming years we are sure this winning trend will keep rising.
I would like to share with you part of the New Year wishes from Mr. Narendra Kumar,
the chairman, DPS society to the teacher of Delhi Public Schools. He wrote, “They
(students) will not follow our authoritarian checklists of Dos and Don’ts, that
we trust on them under the guise of age old wisdom. We can only provide values as
strong foundation for their belief system and personal identity………… . Only those
behavioral parameters that are set in mutual agreement will be accepted and respected
but any opinion or suggestion that is one sided will be looked upon as a yoke of
force, fear, authority and will be thrown aside putting the students in ‘rebel mode’
instantly.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!
Can we adults be the comer stones for such bonding, in evolving-sincere, courageous
individuals? Can you as teachers once again focus on fulfilling the promise we make
to parents and children each year through school almanacs- of ensuring Individuals
Attention to all under our care? Subject specific lessons are to be taught, tests
are to be designed and performance has to be graded; however is it not possible
to weave complex academic elements with colours of games, sports, art and culture
into the vibrant fabric of child’s Simple life with overall desing remaining intact
i.e. of eternal human values?”
With the full support of the parents we are among the selected few schools across
the country to have implemented the series of strategies and programs that the CBSE,
had evolved to reduce stress at the primary and middle level by adopting the ‘No
Exam’ for classes until VII and ‘Grading Scheme’. There has been much concern among
some parents, however, that the new rules would leave their children unprepared
to handle the students and teachers to shift their focus from learning by heart
under pressure to learning with understanding in a tension free environment. The
outcome of this system will surely be fruitful in the coming years.
Khalil Gibran in his famous book. The Prophet writes about the children that:-
Your children are not your children.
There the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, not even in your dream.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you
with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrows that files, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
Let’s join hands and work towards the noble task of preparing the children entrusted
to us to become the best all-rounder and valuable global citizens. Make a habit
of going through this Almanac n regular basis and try to remain in touch with the
school as much as possible. Ensure that in case of a planned leave it is duly sanctioned
and in case of an emergency the absence is brought to the notice of the school in
time.
